4. Hurghada. Hurghada is one of the most popular dive destinations in Egypt. The dive sites in this region are famous for their dramatic cliffs and rich marine life. Hurghada is also a great place to see whale sharks. It is renowned for dive sites like the Abu Hashish dive site, known for its abundance of sea turtles.
How to get there: The M/Y Obsession liveaboard trips depart from Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Port Ghalib and return transfers from Hurghada and Marsa Alam airports to the departure point can be arranged at additonal cost. Check in time starts 17:00 hrs on the first day (boat departs the next morning). Check out before 12:00 noon on the last day
In total, we were only five divers, the rest were snorkelers – perfect conditions. The first port of call was the marsa Shouna dive site, which can be reached within 45 minutes by boat south of Port Ghalib. Marsa Shouna is a medium-sized, about 360 m wide and well protected bay with a seagrass meadow in the middle.
Marsa Alam’s most beloved dive site! Roughly a 30-minute journey from the shore, it is accessible only via boat or zodiac craft. The reef’s north and south plateaus sit 20-30 meters below the surface, and the ever-changing sea currents can be tricky to navigate. Therefore this dive site is accessible only to experienced divers.
Samadai Reef is a crescent-shaped offshore reef located approximately 15 minutes from our Marsa Alam Diving Center - Lagoon View Resort. The sheltered waters of the lagoon provide a favorable resting habitat for over 500 Spinner Dolphins (Stenella longirostris).
